Re: Manu Tuilagi

Probably time to move on from the "as he worth the money" debate and just remember how much we enjoyed watching him in a Tigers shirt when he was at full fitness and peak form. I remember being at Welford Road to watch an 18 year old Tuilagi smash the South African 2nd XV to pieces, I don't think I...

Re: Manu Tuilagi

Still salty. :smt005
Yes he's been injured but few players haven't been.
He's a good player, get over it and move on.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope

I would think the outside backs will be chosen from Scott 6'1" 103k, Taute 6'3" 108K, Worth 6'1" 95k, Williams 6'1" 91k, Olowofela 6'2" 90k, Nadolo 6'5" 130k, Potter 6'1" 95k.. Dangerous4 is probably right we could do with some big guys in the backs ??? Yes I reckon they're plenty big enough but su...

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

I'm not opposed to ring fencing, mainly because the Championship isn't fit for purpose. The days of an Exeter appearing and challenging the established clubs have long gone - Ealing haven't even challenged Newcastle this season and have zero chance challenging Sarries next season. Plus there are ac...

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

Ring fencing will protect the existence of teams. A team being relegated would have financial commitments upon them with regards to players contracts and they need revenue to exist. In the Championship they would not generate the levels of revenue required, and Covid has eaten into any reserves tha...

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

BFG I think I agree with all of this but could you perhaps expand on what you mean by “changing referring habits”? Taking too long to complete scrums and line outs. Remove the TMO or at least change how it's being used as decisions are still questionable with it and take far too long. Police the of...

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

The idea that ringfencing alone is the opportunity required to make the game better or more attractive is a misconception. You're still going to get the same type of overly large average skilled players (in particular up front) coming through if what is going on underneath promotes this. They selec...

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

I don't think anyone is scared of take overs by rich businessmen but just wary of rich businessmen who want to either change or won't play by the rules taking over, and with good reason. Five years of scaremongering that someone was cheating did indeed turn out to be true. It's not a coincidence in...

Re: How Many Premiership Clubs Can Survive This?

Rugby and cricket members are a pretty responsible bunch when required to be compared to what I'm seeing in some pubs and seaside towns.
The tail is wagging the dog.

Re: How Many Premiership Clubs Can Survive This?

It's mad that organised events should be penalised and unorganised not. As was apparent on Friday as I drove past my local pub where there were roughly 200 people getting smashed in an outside area of about 30 x 20 metres, there wasn't much social distancing going on. Stupid thing is the pub has two...

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

Yes indeed, but my argument would be that ring-fencing is neither necessary nor sufficient to remove marquee players nor reduce salary cap. Once ring-fencing has come in, it will be almost impossible to ever remove it, but the salary cap will be open for renegotiation every few years, if indeed it ...
