Re: Baa Baas game called off

According to a blow by blue account of the events this week in the Daily Telegraph, they all signed legally binding contracts to abide by the Covid protocols. Some of the players broke them twice: a pub visit on Tuesday evening (which was undiscovered at first) and the now well publicised visit to t...

Re: Baa Baas game called off

"Has anyone thought it might be deliberate". Don't understand this comment JG. What motive could they have? Why would these players want the match cancelled? They weren't compelled to play and - as I understand it - Barbarians are well remunerated and looked after nowadays. It was being televised an...

Re: Wonder kids

Agree with much of the above - the original article is clickbait journalism of course designed to draw us in and then padded out to wrap round loads of adverts. My irritable reaction is to read it ( because I'm interested) but strenuously avoid looking at the ads! However the basic premise of choosi...

Wonder kids

"Ruck" has produced an item on 5 English rugby players of the last decade or so who never quite fulfilled their stellar early potential. 3 of the 5 played for Tigers. If you haven't read the article can you guess the identity of the three? All 5 were backs by the way.

Re: European finals 2020

Robespierre, I assume, has some association with France and so can understand his support for Racing against Exeter but for me it's England Vs France. If I were to support a "second" English club it would be Exeter as they seem to have achieved what Tigers should aspire to ( and once had). Strong te...

Re: Manu Tuilagi

I'm genuinely sorry that Manu has experienced yet another (maybe career-threatening) injury but I can't quite conceal just a little twinge of joy that Steve Diamond's arrogantly boastful words about how he would manage Tulagi's fitness so much better than Tigers have come back to bite him.

Re: Other games this weekend Round 14

Post match it was slightly bizarre to see some of the players elbow-bumping - after 80 minutes of full on rugby with scrummaging, tackling, breathing in each other's faces etc. Force of habit, I suppose

Re: Other games this weekend Round 14

Come on Quins! Normally I'd be neutral on this one but seeing Manu in a Sale shirt and having to put up with Diamond's sarcastic and supercilious comments over the last few weeks, I'd be quite pleased to see Sale's title hopes dented.

Re: Team for Exeter

Phew! On paper the two sides are chalk and cheese, aren't they. One oozes class the other looks like a weaker version of the teams we put out earlier " this season". I'm kind of pleased to see rugby back but to be realistic if we avoid a 20+ points defeat then the new coaching team will have achilev...

Re: RFU To Review The Use of 'Swing Low,Sweet Chariot' ; Connotations of Slavery ?

I have to say I've never been that keen on "Swing Low". I remember when it was part of the repertoire of hymns, spirituals and bawdy songs sung in rugby clubs up and down the country on a Saturday evening but I never quite understood how it morphed into becoming England's unofficial anthem. The trou...

Tigers' Players in the Media

Interesting to see that three (two current, one former) Tigers' players feature in articles in today's Daily Telegraph. Ellis Genge and Tom Varndell express different views about Edward Colston. I hadn't realised that both Varndell and Jordan Crane attended Colston's School and - up to a point - lea...

Re: Provisional Premiership Return Date ?

At last a little whiff of reality amongst clouds of wishful thinking. We are all Tigers' fans and want nothing more than a resumption of rugby as it was - but it cannot and will not happen in the near future. It's difficult to imagine a sport that is more inimical to social distancing than Rugby Uni...

Re: Social distancing

A couple of nice jokes that made me laugh. However I hope it's not being too solemn to say that social distancing and a sport like rugby are totally incompatible. Scrummaging and tackling, for example, are its very antithesis. Given that the social distancing protocols have to remain in place until ...
