Re: Stuart Barnes - Cut The :censored:

I'd support that proposal, having thought there's too much pressure on top players to perform ~40 times a year (inc. internationals). Every year we see the impact of 6N or autumn internationals on our squad, so to reduce that impact and have a full squad to pick from for every round of the premiersh...

Re: Finn Russell

Sad news as a Scotland fan. I saw a breakdown on twitter of the timeline - wouldn't have been at the hotel until 7:45/8:00PM on the Sunday and was at his parents in Stirling by 10:00PM. You could fill the gaps with he's likely had 2-3 beers, someone asked him to stop and they've had a bit of an argu...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part Deux

I think Kyle Eastmond is a good addition, he can't command that high of a wage considering he's low on options at this stage, surely? I watch a fair amount of Rugby League too and I remember being told that when he announced he was leaving Saints (Super League Saints) he was dropped to the reserves ...

Re: RFU injury surveillance report, re plaggy pitches

I actually re-watched the injury today, out of curiosity and it is very innocuous. But I think to blame it solely on the 4G pitch is a bit irresponsible, there are so many other factors. Firstly the impact is to the side Willis' knee, and on any pitch that's a potential ligament injury. Secondly, if...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 1

Wasps have just confirmed that Kyle Eastmond is leaving (contract expires end of the season). I think he'd be a great addition to the squad, but I imagine he'll have a few options out there for him.

Re: The Six Nations Thread

Watson and Barclay had a field day against a ponderous English back row. Berghan has been a revelation (dare I mention under the tutelage of one Richard Cockerill). Great to see Finn Russell back to brilliant best, sadly missing in first 2 games. Reminds me of his coach ..mercurial but prone to the...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2017/18 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 3!
Think the reason they sent him to Toulon was so he'd come back to Bath fit and ready "refreshed after a long battle back form injury". His contract is up summer 2019. Can't see him leaving Bath this summer imo, but he would be exactly the player we need
I'm sure it was on...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2017/18 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 3!

I have to disagree with that assessment @CitizenSmiff. CDP was good when he first arrived at Edinburgh, but is no where near that form currently. He was non-existent in the Wales vs Scotland game. Denton might not be the greatest footballer, but he is abrasive and tough and put in a good shift vs Fr...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2017/18 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 3!

Cornell Du Preez was completely absent last week vs Wales, and dropped out of the entire match day squad for this week vs France. I'm a Scotland fan, I'd love for more Scottish internationals at Leicester, but he is not one of them. If Edinburgh are deeming him surplus to requirements (currently a m...

Re: Champions Cup Fixtures

I was looking at travelling there from London with a few mates. We were thinking of driving or getting the cheapest flight we could find. Some airlines haven't released flights yet. Should be cheap (ish) if you book early on a budget option. The real issue we found was a huge lack of accommodation a...

Re: Tv Games

And I think the important thing to remember is the 'match day experience' is different for everyone. Tigers do a pretty good job of catering for a lot of desires and there are of course areas that could be improved. But this 'experience' will continue evolving as long as there are games being played...

Re: Super Rugby additions to Pro12

Fair point about the overkill of particular games/rivalries. It happened last year too, I think Glasgow got beaten by Munster 4 times last season due to the Champ Cup pools. I really like the premise, although I'm worried it feels just a little rushed. The conference format keeps things changing eac...

Re: CEO and Board ... you haven't been forgotten

Performance based pay is a really interesting concept, but having spent a few minutes thinking how you would implement it in rugby I feel it's too complex. Games per season is on option, but unfair if you get injured long term. You could look at match performance and have indicators for each positio...

Re: Leicester Tigers 2016/17 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread

On the 'Rugby Pod' this week Andy Goode and Jim Hamilton speculate on Tom Croft's future.

Could be one of the many untrue rumours you see flying around, but he is supposedly off to Coventry RFC for next season.

I have absolutely no way to verify this! But I found it interesting.
