Re: Proposed new substitution law.
My thanks to you Longshanks for stimulating the discussion. I am reminded of a very old story told by Richard Burton (of Liz Taylor fame) of a game at the Arms Park where a player was lying totally immobile having been tackled ferociously. And some wag in the crowd exclaimed "Leave him to die!&...

Re: Fear to travel? Sale at Edgeley Park
Sure JG there are valid reasons not to travel and some less valid ones. If Mrs G had a bad experience that's a shame. But I didnt, nor did my family, and that's worth reporting here given the significant number of suggestions of difficulties, many of which seemed more based in rumour than direct ex...

Re: Double header
LessThanSte, Quins 2nd row George Robson was sent off in the first minute, apparently for a head but. Towards the end of the game Pests were awarded a penalty try because the referee deemed that Quins were illegally removing pests from a maul. Not sure which is more controversial, but I'd say the s...

Re: Proposed new substitution law.
The IRB wording is: A provision may be introduced that where uncontested scrums are ordered as result of there being no suitably trained and experienced front row replacement for any reason, the team concerned play with not more than 14 players This would seem to indicate that where a front row play...

Re: Proposed new substitution law.
But only in the the scrum, I think? If a prop leaves the field currently then he can be replaced by a wing (or anyone else) - but not to scrummage. In order to mitigate against uncontested scrums through a lack of props on the bench then you could rule against that in future. Once a team declare un...

Re: Sale v Tigers
Can somebody please explain to me why it seems we can only play Sale on a Friday night? I know I may be over-reacting, but this alway seems to be the case. Furthermore, and I know I've posted this comment before, why, why, why do we NEVER seem able to play well on a Friday night, first match of the...

Re: What to wear for the Hairy Queens game on 12 Sept
Have to careful if you go to the Rec with a cold and sniff instead of blowing your nose. Locals could be a bit against sniffing! Is there any truth in the rumour that the Rec has panted the lines black instead of white? And that at the Stoop the grass is now red so the blood does not show up? :smt0...
