Re: Midweek Game - Wed 09 Sep Away to Wasps

Well played Wasps. Got their noses in front and played with the confidence. We couldn’t compete at that level. But why does the Wasps MoM have a blue tongue?

Re: Midweek Game - Wed 09 Sep Away to Wasps

I am actually looking forward to this. For us it’s a training run/ shot at glory, but for Wasps their whole season hangs on it. If they don’t beat us, they won’t make top four.

Looking after retired players

One topic that comes up from time to time is preparing players for life after rugby, but listening to Haskell and Hartley talking on the Good, Bad Rugby podcast it seems one of the things clubs could do is offer free or subsidised healthcare for the first couple of years after retirement. We seem to...

Maybe trying the rotation route? With the likes of Youngs, Reffell and Taufua propping a youngish pack?
My thoughts exactly. Plus one or two of our late arrivals leaves us with a reasonable squad for visiting wasps.

Re: Uncontested scrums

Wasps.... uncontested scrums.... meh! Although Phil Vickery is usually credited with inventing this form of cheating, I think it reached perfection with Olivier Azam at Gloucester. Capped for France at both both Hooker and Prop, for this match he was suddenly unable to move to Prop keep scrums comp...

Re: Gloucester vs. Tigers - Sun 30 Aug 20 (1630)

I had hoped that when Murphy moved upstairs we would finally see an end to our poor and ineffectual kicking game. Alas it's still with us and I can only draw the conclusion that Murphy has insisted just as he did when he was head coach that we still persist with it. :smt009 The kicking game is here...

Re: London Irish

Not sure if it’s a sign of respect or disrespect but it looks like we will be the only team to face everybody’s first 15.

I think it allows Borthwick and team to focus on progressing performance rather than results.
Bring it on Gloucester,

Re: Teams up v Bath

To top it all off I say we kept the Pale Orc to a quiet performance in my view... The watching Eddie Jones would have only been impressed by Stuart, McConnochie and Spencer (maybe Dunn too) and Martin out of all the England/England U20 contingent present. Sorry who is the pale orc? I don’t think Jo...

Re: Teams up v bath

This is great to see. We know Murphy has greatly increased the focus on developing talent, and even if only because of the circumstances The new coaching team is picking this up. Massive banana skin for Bath. They will have no clue how this team will play. Pressure is all on them. How embarrassed wo...

Re: Team for Exeter

Was disappointed by the performance in the scrum, Exeter prevented us from using it as a platform to build upon, although I feel as though we should have been awarded a penalty for the last scrum as Moon had bored in in my opinion. I’ve never played in the front row, but it looked to me like Moon s...

Re: Team for Exeter

Tigers really managed to rattle Exeter, but the ref still gave them the benefit of the doubt on too many occasions. Again we saw OTY put in a hell of a shift in attack and defence but please make Ford the man the ref has to talk to. Five metres out and the ref warns you, you HAVE to ask the ref to s...

Ok so apart from a sense of shock about how few home- grown players are starting for Sale, it’s difficult to see how Quins have a chance.

Maybe a quiet day and idle speculation, but of the current top 4 you’d say 3 were possible contenders
Presumably you’re thinking Northampton are the most likely to be innocent?

Re: TV Coverage

As with the recent compressed televised culmination to the football season I really believe that this would be an ideal opportunity to bring more Premiership matches to terrestrial TV. A good product shown live could be potentially beneficial to the sport as a whole and come next season actually br...

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

The idea that ringfencing alone is the opportunity required to make the game better or more attractive is a misconception. You're still going to get the same type of overly large average skilled players (in particular up front) coming through if what is going on underneath promotes this. They selec...
