Re: Geordan Murphy leaves the club!

Credit to Rory for drawing a red line. Disappointing but not surprising to hear nothing from Ben Kay. Unfortunately Murphy is not the first total Tigers legend to be treated poorly. As I think Tiglon expressed it, the club has put all its eggs into Borthwick’s basket. It’s unclear if Borthwick wante...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope

Just because we’ve signed Wigglesworth doesn’t mean we’re gonna get bought by Wray and all of our squad will get a nice house! Of course it does. The devil walks the earth, and his name is Nigel. And we will continue to protest against his immorality, typing away on phones and keyboards made in que...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope

Given sports have survived two world wars, and several pandemics, I feel more positive than you young JP14. I know it’s depressing but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. At the time of the last pandemic of this proportion or those world wars the sums of money involved even in top level spor...

We have to have fans in soon, or otherwise we'll get to a point where English sport will never be able to recover!

Re: Baa Baas game called off - Players charged by RFU

For some to lie about events when caught out and questioned beggars belief :smt009 It’s probably an artefact of the “stays on tour” mentality. Players need to know the new version: “What goes on tour, goes on social media, and stays on social media to be viewed by your partner, your parents, your c...

Re: Baa Baas game called off

Let's not get carried away. They haven't broken the law. It's still legal to book 2 tables of 6 in a restaurant. And it's still legal to go the pub. Yes, they've been incredibly stupid, but the main reason you play for the barbarians is the camaraderie with the rest of the squad that you don't get ...

Re: Offside at a kick off

I am continually annoyed by seemingly all referees who allow several players to run offside at a restart. Almost invariably the player making the tackle is the one most offside. It kills counter attacking. Hopefully it will be policed next season - written more in hope than expectation! Totally wit...

I went into the shop today (swapping an optimistically sized purchase), they are currently building the bridge from the hotel into the stadium itself so yes I'd guess the steel work is all done now.
I find lockdown has caused a lot of items of clothing to shrink... ahem.

Re: Premiership Final hit by Covid!

Wasps will be replaced by Bristol in the Premiership final on 24 October if a coronavirus outbreak means they cannot play, says Premiership Rugby. For those of us who can remember the Alec Guinness film Kind Hearts and Coronets, it might feel like we only need another few teams to test positive and...

Very sad to see him go, but we have been lucky to have him.
Wish him luck in his new (hopefully elevated) role.

Re: Other Round 22 Fixtures

All credit to Saints - proper rugby team - for following the rules.

It would be an utter disgrace if Sale are allowed to play.

The sport is supposed to be professional.

Just finish the season on Sunday at 5pm. award the title to Chiefs.

Re: Steve Borthwick

At some point surely we might get the rub if the green from a referee Without wanting to instagate another refereeing argument, It really does seem that when you're down you get reffed differently. The luck just doesnt seem to come as it does with the teams at the top of the league. Don't get me wr...

Re: Midweek Game - Wed 09 Sep Away to Wasps

Well played Wasps. Got their noses in front and played with the confidence. We couldn’t compete at that level. But why does the Wasps MoM have a blue tongue?

Re: Midweek Game - Wed 09 Sep Away to Wasps

I am actually looking forward to this. For us it’s a training run/ shot at glory, but for Wasps their whole season hangs on it. If they don’t beat us, they won’t make top four.

Looking after retired players

One topic that comes up from time to time is preparing players for life after rugby, but listening to Haskell and Hartley talking on the Good, Bad Rugby podcast it seems one of the things clubs could do is offer free or subsidised healthcare for the first couple of years after retirement. We seem to...
