Re: Doom and Gloom

If the season ends as some fear it will be our third worst season in league rugby, the third worst in my lifetime. In our last 9 games we have: lost by 33, 17, 10, 14, and 23 . And one where we threw it away on the final play to lose by 2. We've beaten: A championship team by 8 with a last second s...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Smith seemed to hit his ceiling. He's was mobile and aggressive but didn't quite have the physicality his style demanded for Prem rugby. Lavin could have been an excellent player for us but that horrific injury that kept him out so long seemed to do for him. He's been doing well at Uni level and Sa...

Re: Doom and Gloom

I guess a question could be when do expectations become a hindrance? How long was Borthwick going to get to find success? I still feel that season we became very fortunate in a lot of things out of our control. The bulk of our squad was not England internationals we had no Lions. We basically had th...

There will always be what ifs with academy leavers

Look at Lavin and Smith both where gonna be big losses, and honestly could have been great for us we will never know but they also could’ve been at their ceiling already

Regarding Hodge, the last two games I’ve watched him play for Exeter and England A, I lost count of the number of times he decided not to pass to a teammate in a better position and instead go into contact on his own. :smt018 Noticed that looks like he brought too much into his own wonder try hype.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Ben White played more games for us than he has Irish and Toulon combined. he was given a chance, Tigers made the decision to back JVP. If not then JVP game time would’ve been less and potentially he might not have been the player he is now. It’s sort of swings and roundabouts and unfortunately unlik...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

How would you convince a player of White's quality to stay and be 3rd choice on a salary comensurate with that status, given the other opportunities available to him? Or should we have let JvP go instead? Genuine questions. You can't have all the players, because: A) salary cap B) wanting to avoid ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Agreed next seasons player recruitment and retention decisions are unfathomable. How do we even know Edwards wanted to stay? Players are not commodities to be controlled, they're actual people who make their own decisions... It's not so unfathomable that we offered him 3rd choice and he decided to ...

I mean I think the signings so far have been pretty good. The idea they are unfathomable is so typically over the top [quote=sapajo post_id=882121 time=1713979622 user_id=9379] [quote="Wayne Richardson Fan Club" post_id=882118 time=<a href="tel:1...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Think the last regular season match is 5th May. However it looks likely that the team he coaches is in the promotion/relegation playoffs. Those finish 25th May, so unlikely to be here before June. Apparently they are in relegation playoffs according to this tweet on X https://twitter.com/rugbyjpcom...
