It wasn't only the fans at the match either. Many of the flats around the town/ground had ASM flags on balconies and many of the worshippers in the Cathedral on Sunday were wearing ASM scarves. The town seems to live rugby even more, if I dare say it, than Leicester.

The only time I can remember Tigers winning a Heineken Cup match with Rolland in charge was when we played Cardiff in 2009 on their patch. The Tigers were 26 - 12 up with 6 minutes remaining. Rolland yellow carded two Leicester players and Cardiff recovered to draw the game at the 80 minute mark. Sounds familiar doesn't it !! However the resulting penalty shootout went in Tigers favour when Martyn Williams missed his allotted kick. I still have the recording of that match and when Williams missed his kick Rolland was in shot in the background. He looked as though his whole world had collapsed.......But on Saturday he finally got his revenge.

That's because we have consistently not managed to win our pool, with the exception of last season!

To,
BJ and others; I really don't know what to say any more. There is a theory (based on evidence) that every generation since the 1890s is more stupid than the last. The theory is that reaction times correlate with thinking speed and there are data since the late 19th C that show this. All the recent improvements in technology are only incremental apart from those made by one or two individuals (statistically usual). If you no longer have to calculate in pounds shillings and pence (but only tens) and it doesn't matter if you can't spell then, the theory is, your brain is not as agile as previous generations. The world produces "Smart phones" that are anything but. They limit one's choice. Maybe this should be a separate thread but the sheer illiteracy of the previous post was so astonishing.

I agree 100% many are in danger of being too one eyed with refs now. Rolland reffed that match better than I've seen from him before.
We were very lucky not get at least one yellow in the first half, not because of the ref but simply because of the pressure on our defence.

Having just got back and not yet watched the game back, I have to say that the impression most fans at the game was that it was a fair result in a game we could have won. I did not hear anyone having a go at the ref - it was TTE who came in for the stick. 2 stupid yellows in 2 games make me wonder what his mind set is at present and I did hear one fan offer the opinion that he believed that TTE is so angry at having to leave that the yellows were deliberate. I had to agree that Saturday's was so stupid it was hard to argue with him and that we should not play him again unless forced to by injuries. But what an amazing place to play and visit. It was the last on my list of grounds to visit and a fitting place to complete the set.

Old Hob, as I've mentioned previously, I've given up highlighting peoples' basic spelling errors since all I ever got in return was a keyboard-full of abuse ("it's a rugby forum, not a spelling test!" is the normal reaction). There are very few people around these days who have the good manners to accept they've made a mistake and will admit it so I've decided to let them wallow in their ignorance but I will continue to point out factual errors even if this results in similar replies and moderators deleting threads without having the common decency of explaining why (as happened last week).

Anyway, that's an aside. Back on topic - well played ASM and here's hoping they take out Saracens.
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

as u can probly tel im kinda yung and tots illitrit...

Nothing to do with age or any alleged "stupid generation". Must have been great to live in those brilliantly educated in which everyone was capable of spelling I'm sure...

Trendy, if you can, might be worth another watch. Great game, but I would say that Clermont definitely received a more than fair portion of the rub of the green (geddit).

no doubt at all, this was a game you could have won. Talking about Rolland the ref... we have learn to adapt ourselve to the referee style. Rolland always give advantage to defense. You carry the ball, you get penalized. last Hcup final against Toulon, Rolland was the ref. the best defense won the title.
Now, 1/4 final away is a tough challenge. Local crowd is a boost for local team. we do not fight on the field, but we do give this additional amount of energy that help players to run this little 1% above their limits. It's what makes them to fight hard enough to not only be first on pool game but to get the rank that give you the 1/4 at home. The day after, I'm voiceless.. much better though if I've to speak english :-)
